Slipping and sliding at Imola

Anyone want to take a guess at who is sitting on top after the first practice session? If you guessed anyone other than Ferrari...lol

Max was 3rd fastest, but the biggest surprise was the American team Haas at #4 and #5. That's a huge wow! Checo was 6th. Mercedes is waaaaaaaay down as they struggled to get heat into their tires. Lewis was 7 seconds off the pace. Let that sink in, his best lap is 7 seconds of the pace...wow! Max is a little over 2 seconds off the Ferrari pace, with the next several cars 3+ seconds slower. If anyone thought they might be able to cut into Ferrari's pace in the wet, forgetaboutit! Ferrari nailed this car formula, and it appears their car works great in all conditions.

The sprint qualifying session takes place in a couple hours, so that should be fun. I expect at least one red flag during that event just based on the amount of rain they have, and wouldn't be surprised if they had 2-3 red flags. If your tire touches the painted line, expect to end up in the gravel. It's that slippery.
